INTERNATIONAL TRUCK AND ENGINE CORPORATION NAMES MODESTO REYES THE ULTIMATE POWER STROKE® DIESEL FAN

CHICAGO (Aug. 1, 2003) - With a powerful truck, a high performance lifestyle, and a fun attitude, only one man truly embodies the Power Stroke® Diesel experience: Modesto Reyes, of Sparks, Nevada.

International Truck and Engine Corporation, designer and manufacturer of the Power Stroke® Diesel engine for Ford Motor Company, named Modesto Reyes the Ultimate Power Stroke® Diesel Fan. This distinction earns the Ford® diesel enthusiast featured spots in advertisements in the Power Stroke® Registry and on the new Web site at www.PowerStrokeDieselStuff.com. Reyes won the coveted title in a national photo contest sponsored by the engine manufacturer this summer.

Reyes' winning photo entry depicts him in his United States Air Force uniform standing beside his Ford® F-350 Super Duty pickup and a C-130 military aircraft. Lilia Reyes nominated her husband to be the Ultimate Power Stroke® Diesel Fan, writing, "My husband takes great pride in serving his country and driving his Ford Power Stroke diesel - AMERICA'S BEST."

International ran the contest in conjunction with its annual Power Stroke® Diesel 200 race and owners rally, the title NASCAR® Craftsman® Truck Series race held Aug. 1 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The racetrack is just 20 miles across town from the Indianapolis Engine Plant where International manufacturers the Power Stroke diesel engine for Ford.

"The ultimate Power Stroke diesel fan has got to be someone who lives the Power Stroke diesel lifestyle. And that's what Reyes' entry was all about. It doesn't matter if he's at work for the air force or at home with his family, he counts on his Power Stroke diesel for work or play," said Bob Carso, director of marketing operations, Engine Group, International Truck and Engine Corporation.

International reviewed a variety of entries sent in by diesel enthusiasts who enjoy using their trucks to tow boats and RVs, go off-roading, work on the farm, or take their family on camping trips. "Power Stroke diesel fans get excited about this engine. It makes for one tough truck package, and has great fuel economy. If you're driving a Power Stroke diesel powered pickup, there's no question you have the best performing work or recreational vehicle for people with active lifestyles," said Carso.

Because Reyes has been called to active duty in the Middle East, he will not be able to accept the grand prize in the contest, a VIP experience at the Power Stroke® Diesel 200 race and rally. In his place, runner-up Craig Courtwright of Montclair, Calif., will attend as "Ultimate Fan for the Day."

"Our thoughts are with Modesto. We wish him the best and pray for a safe return," said Carso. "We are proud to support him as he supports our country."

International is collecting contributions for a care package to send to Modesto Reyes while he is overseas. "We hope the other Power Stroke® diesel owners who share Modesto's passion for the Power Stroke diesel will show their support for our ultimate Power Stroke diesel fan," Carso said. Those who wish to make a contribution should go to www.PowerStrokeDieselStuff.com for a list of suggested donations.

All packages should be delivered to the address below and include a mailing address where thank-you notes may be sent:

This is the fifth year International and Ford Racing have joined to sponsor the Power Stroke® Diesel 200 race. Hundreds of Power Stroke diesel owners are expected to converge on Indianapolis for a weekend of fun rally activities, including a caravan from Indianapolis to Kentucky to visit the Ford® F-Series truck assembly plant in Louisville, Ky.

International also sponsors Terry Cook, driver of the No. 29 Power Stroke® Diesel Ford race truck, in the NASCAR® Craftsman® Truck Series.
